In the heart of Franklin, Tennessee, right in the middle of Main Street, sits a notable interior store that is worth going to visit. The Iron Gate personifies the essence of luxurious style, while remaining simplistic in form. In addition to the physical space, a fast-paced interior design business is also at work–one that emulates a similar mission as its storefront. And at the center of it all is Iron Gate owner and designer, Rozanne Jackson. We had a chance to chat with Rozanne and became inspired by her business, her philosophy and her talent. We think you will too.
…
Please tell us a bit about yourself and your background.
I grew up in Lufkin, Texas- a small town a few hours outside of Houston. You might be surprised to know that I started out as a singer. But after years of travel and life experience I realized my true passion for space planning and design. I have been in this business for about 20 years and I opened my first store in 1996. It was a small candle shop on Columbia Avenue in Franklin, Tennessee. As the business grew, so did the building and in 2004 we moved to our current location on Main Street in Downtown Franklin.
What do you define as your style and how does that translate into your store’s inventory? What’s your inspiration?
I love old objects. I want to find items that have a lot of history and have been around the world. Each piece has its own story, its own soul and that is reflected in the space I decorate. It’s about simple details, clean lines, and a sense of balance. By mixing in modern elements, I am able to create a beautifully balanced and elegant space.
List some brands or lines that you carry for lighting, furniture and accessories. What are some customer favorites?
We carry an assortment of fine linens from Bella Notte and Pom Pom. Our main furniture lines are Lee Industries and Verellen. Some of our favorite lighting companies include Barbara Cosgrove, Low Country Originals and Chandi. Customer favorites include Cake Vintage, Lafco, Jan Barboglio, and Abigails.*
Tell us about your interior services.
In our interior services, my goal in every project is to create magical spaces that both inspire and relax, all while improving the quality of life for our clients and those around them. I make decorating selections such as the finishes and fabrics, but I also have the ability to customize light fixtures, furniture, cabinetry, etc, so that our clients are able to have items in their home that are uniquely theirs.
Are there any “high-profile” shoppers one may see while shopping at The Iron Gate?
While we do have our fair share of celebrity clients….I think it’s best to leave the who’s who a mystery. I guess you’ll just have to stop in and see!
Thank you Rozanne! We wish your business much success. For more information on The Iron Gate (store and interior services), see below:

Fun to learn that the owner is originally from Texas. I just moved to Franklin from Houston, and the Iron Gate is the store that feels most like home. A beautiful store with a charming storefront!
